East Timor Violence Case Closed

INDONESIAN Government and East Timor have agreed to solve human right case at East Timor, before and after voted for independence in 1999 through by processes non judicial. The two governments were also emphasize and looking for about the real truth and prioritized friendship to develop reconciliation.

Indonesia-East Timor were acknowledge if human right violation in Timor Leste in 1999 happened cause both of party regarded complexity situation, well at Indonesia and also East Timor.

At Nusa Dua Bali, on Tuesday, (15/7), two contries leader already made commitment, to responsible for all people became as victims. Indonesia-East Timor leader agreed human rights viaolation at East Timor must responsible by institution, not individual responsible.

The Joint Statement signed by The President Republic of Indonesia Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, The President of East Timor Ramos Horta, and The Premier of East Timor Xanana Gusmao.

The Joint Statement also answered final report Commission for Truth and Friendship (CTF). That commission comprises ten members and six alternate members (eight from Indonesia and eight from Timor Leste) chosen among persons competence drawn mainly from legal and human rights fields, academia, religious and community leaders.

The human rights violation case prior to and after East Timor`s independence referendum in 1999 was closed after the CTF submitted report to the both leaders.

According CTF’s recommendation, Indonesia and East Timor agreed made Commissions Minister level to push bilateral collaboration. Indonesia-East Timor agreed human rights problem at East Timor through by processes non judicial.

The Indonesia Minister Foreign Hassan Wirajuda said, human rights at East Timor is closed and would not be brought to legal process. But both government agreed must continue and follow up CTF’s recomendation. "We will study CTF recommendation before make next step," he said. Indonesia-Timor Leste also agreed to create peace zona to help and make more easier for Indonesia and East Timor citizen to interaction.

President Yudhoyono said, CTF made on May 2005 intent founded comprehensive truths with advance reconciliation and friendship, effort and oversee to anticipation same tragedy again.

Yudhoyono assured, eventually human factor can build instituation and civilization state, not jurisdictional or ideology. Yudhoyono added, one nation doesn't only concentrate on last time, but also can't bury last memories if will go forward.

Horta said, East Timor Government will soon analysis CTF repot and ready more discussion with Indonesian Goverment. "We accept to apply this recommendation report if that something maybe," he said.

Horta also expected, CTF’s report can make increase spirit mutually passes over so can make good relationship.

Ifdal said, Moon also have know commission expert recommendation. The commission will suggest for Moon decide, and then continue suggest from expert to arrange and bring to board international court.

He said, the Indonesia and East Timor Government can to finish human rights case at East Timor without justice process. But, he said, that approach can stop for victims to push and get justice. “Public can demand,” he said.

Yusron Ihza Mahendra, The Vice Chairman of the House of Representatives' then Commission I overseeing international relationship, Indonesia and East Timor must find worried out to make good relationship and useful for Indonesia-East Timor future.

Politician from Star and Moon Party said, Indonesia-East Timor, can't get benefit if hate each other. "Lets we together see forwards. Our history must be reference, study use wisdom," he said.

Department of Foreign spokesman Teuku Faizasyah declare, final CTF outputs not aims to jurisdictional band, but more advance approaching peace. He said, CTF output will remove history charges and be new page for two countries to make more increase collaboration in the next time.

He also explain if final CTF report get positive applause from United State (AS), Australian, and new zealand.
